Hōroskopos is coming back soon...

Dear subscribers,

Over the last few years, I started working full time and therefore didn't have enough time to continue making updates to the project. In addition, the current state of Hōroskopos still has several structural issues that made it hard to push it further and include features that were requested or even initially envisioned. This is due to my inexperience back then, as I learned most of the skills I needed during development.

This year, however, I've decided to make some changes in my professional life and give my personal and passion projects a bit more love. I'm particularly excited right now, because my last three years working with games and interactive media gave me a lot of tools that allow me to approach Hōroskopos from a new angle.

Right now I'm working on a fully revamped version of Hōroskopos, in which I'm attempting to fix a lot of its foundational issues, while also adding new features. Here are some of the proposed changes in this new version:

• Improved camera controls and settings

• User customization of interface (color schemes, visualization presets, etc.)

• Improved user interface

• Accurately positioned fixed stars

• Planetary trails (positions over time)

• Improved performance on lower end devices during animations

Most of the mentioned features have successfully been implemented in their early form, but there is still a significant road ahead. I cannot make any promises regarding the development timeline, but I'm trying to have this new version launched at the end of 2026/beginning of 2027.

I would also like to mention that Hōroskopos will continue to be free to use. However, there is a lot of work and costs involved in the development of this project and so far it has all been self-funded. One last note is that if you have any ideas or wishes for features that could be included in the next version, please don't hesitate to contact us. We cannot promise that all features can be included in the scope of the software, but if there is enough demand, we can always reconsider.
